The Test of Blame in Temptation
James 1:13-18
Godly Response: As Christians, we are still fallen people in a fallen world, and we will sometimes fail when faced with temptation. When this happens, Christians are basically commanded not to blame God or anyone else, but to assume responsibility for our own weakness and failure to control our own lust for whatever sin we fell into. Christians understand that God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. Plus, every good thing given and every perfect gift is from God, therefore, we get good things from God. His working in our lives is to care for us as a loving Father and to santify us making us more Christ-like. It is also important to remember that God will never allow us to be tempted more than we are able, but with the temptation will provide a way of escape, so that we will be able to endure it.
Worldly Response: Unbelievers are notorious for not accepting blame for their own sin. Some will know their sin but do everything to hide their sin from others, and some won't even admit responsibility for their sin to themselves. Many will even do like Adam in Genesis chapter 3 and blame God for their sin as he said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate."
